Why the hell does this truck, before $3k in cash back cost $28,500? Absolutely stupid. All I added was a V8 and SiriusXM. No other options. Stupid to be paying that much for something with so little on it...
(Yes, this video, again)

I know, it's really annoying. Why the hell should something with NOTHING on it but SIRIUSXM RADIO cost nearly $30k... My grandfathers truck cost like $50k but that was a 3500HD with the Duramax/ towing pkg. Seriously this should be a $22k truck at the most.

frankly it should be a 15K truck.
I find that the best way for my to figure out how much a truck costs: take the amount i THINK it costs. double it. there is your cost

Yeah, how much are base trucks in Canadaland? Aren't they like $22k CAD or am I way off?

Ah-hah! Now I have a winning formula for buying new pickups! I say all trucks should cost one dollar. Therefore all trucks now cost 2 dollars!

weirdly? MUCH better priced then the americans. whats a 35K truck to you is a 28,29K truck for us.

dont worry. its the ONLY thing we win on. whats a fiesta St in the states? 19?22? here its like 27. All of our cars are anywhere from 2-10K more expensive then yours

Is the 28K figure CAD or USD though? Because once you factor in the exchange they're still stupidly overpriced.

CAD.

You guys are lucky there but then you're likely taxed out the ass or something to make it stupidly expensive. I wish that 35K truck was really 25K like you lucky people have it.

In 2003, my Uncle bought a standard cab, 5 speed, V6 Silverado for less than 13k new. Times have changed.

It would be $27k had I left the V6 in it. But it's still double the price it was 10 years ago. More than just inflation happening here,

More standard features, more technology, more safety features, but inflation has played a big role in it.

Kinja'd!!!0

Yeah inflation is definitely a big part of it but there are many features this doesn't need that it has.

There isn't enough of a market to make a stripper model. The vast majority of people want A/C, an aux/usb input, cruise control, etc.

I'm not sure, but I think tax IS included in Canadian prices.
now, dealer fees and what not, yea.

also, our insurance rates are borderline criminal.

Can you get a 3-year-old one for a reasonable price? 5 years old? These vehicles do not get beaten up with age ... much.

Yeah that's the sad thing. If you want that pay for a higher model. I know that sounds dickish but it's the truth, base model isn't supposed to have many things. It's base for a reason.

I can't say I would buy the base model, but I wish it was available. But if you want to see crazy prices, go spec a Cherokee Trailhawk.

10/27/2014 at 02:22

Kinja'd!!!0

yea. heres what I dont get

healthcare is goverment funded. so WHY is our insurance so god-dammed high? As a 18 year old with 2 speeding tickets, i got quoted 7 grand for insurance on my SV650. 7 grand. on my saab, they wanted something like 5 grand a year. imagen how livid I get when i hear guys in the states paying like 300 a YEAR or a mustang or something.

4Runner TRD Pro or Cherokee Trailhawk... hmm. Not even a difficult decision.

Like nothing here is government run, except for the ACA trying to make it. Also I know you're exaggerating but if someone could insure a Mustang for 300 a year god damn that'd be amazing. I kinda wish our healthcare was like yours and not the way ours is. The way Auto insurance is there is like how healthcare is here. Luckily I'm still on my parent healthcare because of my age.

there are people that have 3 digit payments on high power cars. maybe not 300, but definitely a lot lower then us.

10/27/2014 at 02:35

Kinja'd!!!0

Yeah, really depends on how good their history is too. But regardless it's way better than what you guys have to suffer with. I know when I get a car it'll be around 2k a year unless I go on my mom's insurance.

More goes into a vehicles cost than interior options. Why should a V8 350hp truck cost the same as a Mirage or Fit?

Kinja'd!!! bob and john > BigBlock440
10/27/2014 at 08:05

Kinja'd!!!0

a mirage or a fit shouldnt cost 15K either.

10/27/2014 at 08:50

I guess Honda agrees, so they priced it at 17K (cheapest I found with a quick Edmunds search, said it was the base model with no options)
